For the small organ in The New Church I was looking for ‘runners’, long strips of fabric or leather that protect the keys when not being played. The organ and keyboards are mid-17th-century, and are among the best of that time. Sebastiaan van Soest made for this purpose a special kind of gilded leather, which is flexible and can comply with the keys.
